Supplier of:
Social and ecological responsible high quality tropical hardwood
With its 1,200 employees and 20,000 hectares of land and nature reserves, Floresteca manages the largest private teak
plantation in the world.
Floresteca is active in the tropical hardwood / tropical timber: teak, also known as Tectona grandis. With our
investments in Brasil, not only by having property in Brasil or owning Land in Brasil, but by sustainable investments,
environmental investments, ecological investments and agricultural investments. We care for people, planet and profit.
Commodities as teak should be used wisely. Our certificates (FSC, SGS, TUV ) are a proof of our active responsible
attitude towards our planet.
T V, for instance is a certificate focused on climate-friendliness. In 2004, Floresteca Brazil received the first
Sustainable Forestry certificate that meets the Kyoto Protocol and FSC criteria from T V Süddeutschland Climate and
Energy (www.tuev-sued.de). It demonstrates that Floresteca Brazil's plantations sequestrate CO2 and are
climate-friendly. CO2 plays a major role in global warming and worldwide climate change, which can lead to the
extinction of plant and animal species and increase the chances of natural disasters. By sequestrating CO2 in trees,
this process can be counteracted.
Investments in tropical timber can be seen as agricultural investments.
